For the past seven years, Stacey Wong has been a Senior Consultant with BCR Hawaii www.bcrhawaii.com as well as a mediator, arbitrator, expert witness, trustee and court-appointed Personal Representative. He has mediated over 80 Hawaii court cases, was an expert witness in a case alleging a violation of the fiduciary standard, and was the arbitrator in a commercial lease dispute. He is the author and instructor of three real estate continuing education classes: Succession & Exit Strategies for Private and Family Businesses; Mediation, Arbitration & Litigation – The Practical Realities; and Trusts & Estates Issues – Life in the Trenches.
Prior to his current activities, for over 12 years, Mr. Wong was the sole trustee of the Eric A. Knudsen Trust, one of Hawaii’s largest kama’aina family estates. Its 41 properties with its 350 lessees & tenants included a beachfront hotel & condominiums, shopping center, swim & tennis club, restaurants, church & school, cattle & horse ranches, tree farm and a hydroelectric plant.
Mr. Wong has additional real estate and finance experience as Director of Development for Castle & Cooke Lanai where he was in charge of island-wide real estate activities. He was also project manager and minority partner in Stark Development Companies, leading the development, financing and construction of One Harbor Drive, a 42-story, twin-tower condominium project overlooking the waterfront in downtown San Diego.
He was the owner & largest investor in both Scott’s Seafood Grill & Bar, and The Pier Bar at Aloha Tower Marketplace, and a partner & equity investor with Wally Amos in his Uncle Noname’ Cookie Company and The Cookie Kahuna.
Mr. Wong was the President of Kimball Resources, Inc., a successful natural gas brokerage firm he co-founded in Houston, TX. He arranged complex gas purchases and transportation in this regulated industry for major clients including Standard Oil, Texas Petroleum, Potlatch, U.S. Steel, National Steel, PP&G, Archer Daniels Midland and Beatrice Foods. He was a regular speaker at industry conferences and an expert witness in a federal gas antitrust case. Prior to founding Kimball Resources, Mr. Wong was an Energy Economist with SRI International in Menlo Park, CA. There he performed inter-fuel competition forecasts for oil, gas & coal, and analyzed the engineering & cost feasibility of alternative energy technologies, including wind, photovoltaic & solar thermal, synthetic fuels, geothermal, biomass & ocean thermal energy conversion.
Stacey Wong graduated with his M.B.A. from Stanford University, where he was a U.S. Department of Health, Education & Welfare Fellow. He also received his M.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Santa Clara. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.
Mr. Wong was born and raised in Hawaii, enjoys playing basketball and has attended fantasy camps with Jerry West, Magic Johnson & Rick Barry. He is a member of the Maryknoll School Board, the chair of its Development Committee and the President of its Foundation.
