    Robert Goldberg is the Managing Member of the Law Office of Robert Goldberg LLLC in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. He has 30 years of litigation experience, in both private practice and public service, in numerous federal and state courts across the country (including the United States Supreme Court), at both the trial and appellate levels. His current law practice on beautiful Kaua‘i (from 2004 to the present) includes complex civil litigation, real estate, construction defects, foreclosure, commercial and contract cases and alternative dispute resolution (mediation and arbitration), in all courts on all islands.

    In terms of mediation experience, Mr. Goldberg has handled numerous complex mediations (via Dispute Prevention & Resolution, Inc. and otherwise) involving real estate and condominium disputes, construction defects, commercial and employment litigation, etc. In terms of arbitration experience, Mr. Goldberg has presided over Court Annexed Arbitration Program cases in the Circuit Court of the Fifth Circuit, and he has handled substantial arbitrations, including contract and real property disputes, in the State of Hawai‘i and elsewhere.

    Mr. Goldberg sits as a Per Diem Judge in both the District Court of the Fifth Circuit and the Family Court of the Fifth Circuit, presiding over all civil and criminal case (from 2016 to the present, his current term expires in 2023).

    Mr. Goldberg serves as a Lecturer at Kaua‘i Community College, teaching undergraduates Business Law in the Business Education Division (from 2013 to the present).

    Mr. Goldberg has been appointed as a Commissioner in the Circuit Court of the Fifth Circuit in numerous foreclosure and partition cases (from 2007 to the present). He has been appointed as an Arbitrator in the Circuit Court of the Fifth Circuit in numerous tort cases (from 2009 to the present). He was appointed as Independent Grand Jury Counsel for the Fifth Circuit (2007 to 2008).

    Mr. Goldberg earned his J.D. Cum Laude from the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1990. He earned his B.S. with Distinction (Biology and Society) from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1987. He received a Diploma (Master Advocates Program) from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy on Kaua‘i in 1997.

    Mr. Goldberg’s prior experience includes managing the Northern Mariana Islands office of a Guam law firm, serving as an Assistant Attorney General on Saipan, teaching at Northern Marianas College, and working as a litigation associate at a large Washington, D.C. law firm.

    Mr. Goldberg is admitted to practice in Hawai‘i, the District of Columbia (inactive), the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (inactive), Michigan (inactive) and various federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Hawai‘i.

    Mr. Goldberg is a member of the Hawai‘i State Bar Association, the Kaua‘i Bar Association, the Jewish Community of Kaua‘i (board member), Parent Teacher Student Association (Kaua‘i High School and Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School) and the Lihu‘e Business Association.

    Mr. Goldberg has been married for 20 years to his wife, Candle. They reside in Kalaheo, Kaua‘i with their four daughters. Candle, a native of the central Philippines, is a registered court interpreter in her indigenous languages of Ilonggo and Tagalog.
