    Ralph R. LaFountaine, Esq. graduated from Macalester College in 1969, spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy and then graduated from California Western School of Law in 1976.  He was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 1976.

    After four years of working as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Honolulu and Maui, in 1980 Mr. LaFountaine joined the firm of Fujiyama Duffy & Fujiyama.  In the following 30 years, he practiced insurance defense work in all Circuits in the State of Hawaii.

    Ralph has been counsel in cases involving automobile accidents, slip and fall situations, construction accidents, assaults, animal attacks and asbestos litigation.  The injuries involved in these situations have ranged from death cases to disfigurement, to paralysis and soft tissue injuries.

    Over the past 15 years, Mr. LaFountaine has served as a Mediator and Arbitrator on a variety of cases involving insurance defense matters.

    Mr. LaFountaine is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Hawaii Defense Lawyers Association, Judicial Arbitration Commission, and the Hawaii State Tort Commission.  He has also been a speaker at the Statewide Training for Arbitrators.
