William J Nagle III graduated with a BA degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1969 and received his law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1977.  He is admitted to practice law in California (1977) and Hawaii (1978).  Since entering private practice in 1981, he has represented clients in a diverse range of litigation cases, in both state and federal trial and appellate courts.

Mr. Nagle’s law includes representation of developers, general contractors and subcontractors in construction defect or delay litigation, mechanics lien claims, and federal Miller Act lawsuits including the development and construction of Waterfront Plaza and Waterfront Tower.  In 2018, he represented one of the developers at trial in a condominium fraud action in the Second Circuit Court. He has tried real estate disputes, including quiet title lawsuits, adverse possession claims, commercial lease disputes.  As regards tort litigation, Mr. Nagle has tried to verdict personal injury lawsuits, including wrongful death, bodily injury and property damage claims. He has also defended insurers in “bad faith” insurance lawsuits to verdict.

In 1997, Mr. Nagle was appointed to the Hawaii Family Court bench as a per diem judge and served in that capacity until 2017.  During that time, he adjudicated hundreds of family law cases, from high-conflict divorces, contested adoptions, and domestic violence/restraining order applications, to child welfare service cases.  Over his 20 years on the bench, he earned a reputation as a fair, persistent and successful settlement judge, especially in difficult divorce cases.

Mr. Nagle’s commitment to mediation and arbitration of dispute has been consistent and long-standing. As a volunteer, he mediated landlord-tenant, neighbor disputes and family conflicts at the Mediation Center of the Pacific for over 15 years. He was selected as one of the original arbitrators for the Court Annexed Arbitration Program in 1986 and has arbitrated numerous personal injury cases on Oahu and Neighbor Islands.    In 2018, Mr. Nagle started Mediated Solutions Of Hawaii LLC, through which he continues to mediate and arbitrate disputes.
