    Harvey Henderson has been practicing law in Hawaii for over 45 years. After two years at Menlo College (A.A. 1963), he received his bachelor’s degree in 1965 from the University of California at Berkeley. He then attended the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where he graduated receiving his J.D. degree in 1968 and was admitted as a member of the Order of the Coif.

    He returned to Hawaii after law school and was first employed by Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright. In 1976, he joined the firm of Rice Lee & Wong which later was known as Lee Henderson & Wong. In 1992, he joined Tam O’Connor & Yuen, later known as Tam O’Connor & Henderson. In 2001, he was a co-founder of Henderson Gallagher & Kane where he stayed until 2011 when he became supervisor of the Major Litigation Division for the Department of the Attorney General. He retired from the Department of the Attorney General in late 2016. He is licensed in both Hawaii and California (inactive).

    Over the years, Mr. Henderson’s practice has concentrated almost entirely on civil litigation, including personal injury, wrongful death, insurance issues, construction law, contract law, real property litigation, products liability and professional negligence. From 2011 to 2016, as a supervisor for the Department of the Attorney General’s Major Litigation Division, he represented the State of Hawaii in a wide variety of civil litigation cases both as plaintiff and defendant.

    Over the years, he has been lead counsel in multiple jury and non-jury trials, has served as a neutral mediator and arbitrator and has been retained as expert witness in several legal malpractice cases. He has also appeared as a speaker in many CLE courses.

    He has been involved with alternative dispute resolution since its early days and has participated in literally hundreds of mediations over the years. He is now semi-retired but available to handle mediations and/or arbitrations.
